I mostly hate Teddy, but that's ok because I mostly hated Morgana as well (Morgana is slightly better.) I actually really like Marie, I liked her attitude, her poems, how she acts when you're taking her out in the world meeting people and what her story ultimately leads to. Naoto's story and character arc is a big highlight, was really not expecting how she ended up turning out and her detective social link was really fun to go thru. Rise is decent, she's a bit "much" but I really liked her social link and I think at the very least her arc and the way she acts makes more sense then Anne. I wish Kanji's and Yosuke's relationship wasn't as homophobic as it ended up being, but I think Kanji's journey of discovery is pretty great. Chie, I love her personality, she seems like an awesome friend to have. I love how much of a goofball Yukiko evolves into being (which is why she's the best girl.) Yosuke, while being a bit of a perv ends up being a bit of a tragic character. Nanako is truly precious and must be protected at all costs, her story and social link along with her fathers I thought was really well done. Persona 4 has a great main cast of characters. There are others but I havn't sifted thru an OST yet so I can't call them out, but I really vibed with this soundtrack. The Void dungeons 8 bit boss music was chill. The opening intro scene the harmonica and dancing is awesome. I def liked it better than the absolute madness of the Persona 5 ending which while I still really enjoyed, it jumped the shark just a little bit at the end there. Also Marie's part in it all felt like it slotted in quite well. I really liked how Persona 4 handles the midnight channel, the fog, the drama with Nanako (!), Namatame, Adechi and the "actual" baddie Izanami. I liked the countryside murder mystery vibes, really was a fitting backdrop for everything that was going on. So all that out of the way, this is my second Persona game I've played, and I played with Japanese audio. So that sent me down the rabbit hole of hacking my PSTV, which was a decent pain compared to a few of the other consoles I have hacked and finally getting Persona 4 Golden Undub up and running on that sucker. Now I barely will switch games to play them with Japanese audio, but when I'm hanging out in Japan going to a Japanese school it really felt inauthentic to play it in any other language IMO. My first hurdle was there was no audio language options like Persona 5 had. Ben Moore really hyped me up on it a couple years ago and when I finally got around to trying Persona 5 it really resonated with me, I played and beat that 100+ hour monster relatively damn quickly.įast forward to this year and I was itching for some Persona action (maybe fueled by covid/the Persona 5 Royale downtime.) I had always heard Persona 4 Golden is an amazing game so I decided to give it a try.
